Something must be said in honour of that hero of the faith killed on the 10th September 2025, Charlie Kirk. He was a missionary to those living amidst the darkness of today’s Western universities with their re-education camps. It’s true. Students are compelled to take re-education camp subjects amidst any course they choose to study, no matter how unconnected the compelled subject is. This most likely does not apply in Christian universities such as Hillsdale College and other Christian colleges in America and Campion and others here in Australia.
Charlie was a fearless debater. He was only 31 years old. He was a young father of a young family. And he spoke truth in dark places. These dark places do have some light amidst them. Dr Jordan Paterson was light in the dark place of his university when he refused to use untrue, “preferred” pronouns and was punished for this. But Charlie Kirk’s punishment for holding the views he did is reprehensible.
Charlie’s murderer will need to be punished severely. Perhaps the just justice system of America, where capital punishment is still practiced in some states for heinous crimes, will give the death penalty for this crime. Otherwise, other bold Christians and conservatives will neither be vindicated as having a right to share their opinions nor will they feel or be as safe as they deserve to be. Thankfully, the Governor of Utah expressed his sense of a justice requirement for such a crime as this. FoxNews reported :
Republican Utah Gov. Spencer Cox vowed to bring the killer to justice.
“I want to make it crystal clear right now to whoever did this, we will find you,” he told reporters earlier. “We will try you, and we will hold you accountable to the furthest extent of the law. And I just want to remind people that we still have the death penalty here in the state of Utah.”
I prayed for Charlie Kirk after I heard the news – for his soul’s sternal destiny. I also prayed for his young wife and children. God bless Charlie’s family in their pain of loss and may we continue to uphold them and his wider family in prayer. May the killer repent. May justice be done and those two are not antithetical. May God comfort Charlie’s family.
