Deuteronomy 28:1-2 (NASB)
1 “Now it shall be, if you diligently obey the LORD your God, being careful to do all His commandments which I command you today, the LORD your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth. 2 All these blessings will come upon you and overtake you if you obey the LORD your God:
Donald Trump won the presidential election two days ago! Amazing. What a stunning effort on the parts of all true American patriots. What a stunning effort especially on the part of Donald J Trump who had survived yet continued to press on after two assassination attempts and who stood strong to win. I watched the election coverage via The Daily Wire. You couldn’t wipe the smile off Ben Shapiro’s face, and rightly so! There was a deep smile on so many conservatives’ faces across the country (and across the sea) as Trump’s victory became evident. I believe it was Matt Walsh who suddenly came out with a comment on the mercy of God at this time in the USA’s history. So true. It resonated with everyone there at the Daily Wire and all vocally agreed. Now, there may be a chance to reverse all the harm on the culture through all the wickedly insane policies thrust upon all of us in the West – transgender “education” in schools being one of the most blatant examples of cultural assault.
With President Donald J Trump and so many strong choices for his team, the USA which essentially leads other western nations has a fighting chance to resist her internal and external enemies which come in many shapes and forms. For example, the covid catastrophe was a staged coup against the people worldwide. Thus a welcome change to be effected by RFK Jr and others in the team, all with their part to play in dismantling what hurts America and replacing it with what will be most advantageous to the everyday American, rather than concentrating advantage to the “elites” or what Canadian medical freedom-fighter, Dr Mark Trozzi, calls them; those who have “committed covid crimes against humanity”.
Interestingly, along with widespread physical toxicities to the body, corrupt toxicity of mind and soul prevail in the culture through pornography, much of which I believe is leading to the pandemic of homosexuality and other sexually immoral practice. I very recently read an article about the prevalence of pornography in the church, leaving these allegedly Christian pornography users undisturbed by their habit. This claim was made based solely on a survey. What the questions were and precisely to whom the questions were directed were not included in the article so I remain skeptical but disturbed by the claim. It was this claim that inspired me to write this. I believe with all my heart that Deuteronomy 28:1-2 expresses an absolute truth today for America and the West. Through this political reprieve, we have the chance to repent and turn to God or continue as we have been doing, sinking ever further into the mire of a disastrous future. God has now given us the chance to repent of all the distractions and draggings down the culture tries to lure us to. Don’t just try to drop bad habits but turn to God for strength and help to resist the evil of our day – pornography, mindless or evil movie-watching (not all movie-watching is mindless or evil but an awful lot is), sexually provocative movies and toys for children (eg avoid Disney), ugly toys for children, an ugly and unclean home environment and compulsive eating. These set out to destroy us. Resist and turn to God. Turn back to the Church. The three great branches of Christendom all have some beautiful adherents and beautiful aspects to them. I love the reverent worship and a uniquely strong spiritual quality found in the Orthodox Church; I love the often beautifully loving Catholics I see; I love the taking of the Bible as the uppermost authority within Protestantism which is, in fact, why I am a Protestant. This is not to say that all “spiritual” Christians are confined to Orthodoxy nor are “loving” people confined to Catholicism just as a love of the Bible is not restricted to Protestants. Throughout Christendom we find adherents with all of these qualities.
As a Protestant, I believe the Bible is our firmest anchor to the truth both about God and about humanity. All of Christendom’s branches appear to manifest some truth and some problems. We need to guard our souls by opening up directly to God, through the merits of the work of Jesus Christ, to allow us access directly to God. Let’s take advantage of that access through personal Bible reading and prayer. Examples of prayer are there in Scripture – the Lord’s Prayer for a start. Such a rich prayer. You can find it in Matthew 6:9-13. Here it is, with a comment and related scripture passage along the way:

Our Father,
Who is in heaven
(It struck me just a few short years ago that God is in heaven! My head was so full of the concept of His omnipresence that I had forgotten that He dwells in heaven! Perhaps this is because everywhere God is, heaven is. We are told in the following Scripture that God is also in Sheol, the abode of the dead:
Psalms 139:7-8 (NASB) 7 Where can I go from Your Spirit?
Or where can I flee from Your presence?
8 If I ascend to heaven, You are there;
If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, You are there. )
Hallowed be Your name
Your kingdom come
Your will be done on earth
As it is in heaven
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our debts
As we also have forgiven our debtors
And do not lead us into temptation
But deliver us from evil.
The USA now has the chance for a reprieve from madness and those seeking harm on the population, both physical and spiritual. Let’s take the opportunity to return to God in repentance as many, even high-profile people, have been doing along with the countless numbers of unseen penitents. God bless America, and the world as a snow-ball effect, into the future.
