Far Right

Campion College, an Australian Catholic tertiary college, offers a classical education to its students. It is now under fire. A couple of weeks ago, the Sydney Morning Herald went after Campion, attacking it over two of its teaching staff for expressing their belief in a history of Western Civilisation that differs from the now standard, re-written history according to Communist diktat. Anyone who deviates from the narrative of the evils of Western Civilisation is a target for attack. This targeting is the devilry of those who try to mess with our minds and enforce right-think about our great civilisational heritage. To scramble meaning and simply to hold guns to heads is what Marxists do. So now, because of the hit piece in the Sydney Morning Herald, forcing Campion’s administrators’ hands to “investigate” two worthy lecturers for telling the truth about history, their jobs, let alone their right to free thought and speech, may be in jeopardy. When I tried to google the story, it lay behind a paywall. This is the screenshot I got from my search :

“Far-right” is the term leftists, Communists, Marxists use for those people under the impression that people who are white and Western are not evil by virtue of their skin colour, place in history or beliefs. The rules for assessing what is right and what is wrong have been made up by Marxists in the past five minutes of our history. Their policing of wrong-think has been unrestrained, leading to a strong consensus that right-think according to Marxists is based on truth. This new consensus makes those who dissent appear to be “far-right” or “extremists”. No, this is a case of black listing normal people with a proper-functioning mind, heart and spirit.

“Correct” systems of thought appear far and wide, from the re-telling and casting of colonial history to views on gender issues to views on Muslim immigration to views on vaccination. Because these ideas are now being cast as “normal” or “normative”, we have no right to think otherwise or at least so say the bullies. So the people are coerced into taking on positions they know to be either false or questionable. But the threat of retribution by the state, the state’s arm:the media, skewed “research”, “the science” that is not true science but consensus of the new-think class, is very real and has been exercised on people. Remember the unjust treatment by police of some of the COVID protesters.

This new thought system can’t be ignored by simple assertions such as “this is the fallen world we live in”. We have always lived in a fallen world. The difference between our contemporary fallen world and the fallen world of, say, the 16th century, is that today the Marxists and Technocrats are messing with our minds to accept insane ideas that harm more people than is recognised or admitted. Millions either died through COVID vaccination or have suffered impaired health since vaccination. This is documented but not admitted by those still imposing themselves on populations worldwide to get their boosters. We need to be observers of what is going on in the real world.

Coming back to that particular branch of new-think, Western colonial history, it is not people telling the truth of history that are extreme, it is Marxists trying to re-write the history of Western Civilisation. William Buckley, an English convict sent to Australia in the early 1800s, managed to escape custody in Victoria along with a few other convicts. The group became separated by death or capture but Buckley survived escape to eventually make his way around Port Phillip Bay. In so doing, he came across an aboriginal tribe that took him in with much kindness. The story gets more nuanced and the narration of his adventures leads us to conclude quite a different narrative from that conjured up by idealist leftists. To try to maintain that aboriginal tribal life was harmonious and utopian is either naive or mischievous.

An account of Buckley’s observations was recorded by a  newspaper editor, John Morgan, who painstakingly interviewed Buckley over time. This information was compiled into a book, “The Life and Adventures of William Buckley: Thirty-two Years a Wanderer Amongst the Aborigines of Then Unexplored Country Round Port Phillip, Now the Province of Victoria”, by John Morgan. Some versions of this book have been prefaced with information that is questionable. How do you know which narrative to believe? Some versions include prefaces that aim to maintain a narrative of tribal aboriginal life being so much less primitive and destructive than it was. They achieve this by questioning the motives of John Morgan as well as Buckley’s ability to accurately render his account, given how long he was removed from contact with fellow users of the language he originally used, English. The detractors of Buckley’s account argue that he would have lost the ability to speak after 32 years of non use of the English language. But Buckley recounts having English return to him after only one or two days from when he resumed contact with white people.

Today, people are bent on a narrative about the early beginnings of the colonies as being a barbarous takeover of an indigenous, peaceful people group and their land. The achievement of Western Civilisation is questioned by the ‘elites’ of academia and beyond. These claims are all of a piece with other prevailing narratives of today – that a boy can be a girl if he chooses, as example.

No one is claiming that white society was uniformly harmless. Some whites were unjust. So the issue is complex. All I know is that a dictatorial approach to the study of history will not lead to clarity or truth. I am sure there are history teachers who try to do justice to truth in their field, just as in every other field of enquiry. But universities do not necessarily promote truth. Be careful who you get your information from. Regarding the discipline of history, be open to historical facts being quite different from what you may have been led to believe. The ways of truth-fiddling can be clever, winsome and convincing. This brings us back to Campion College. Hopefully the college will not buckle to pressure to conform to today’s dodgy narratives in the field of history. Why dodgy? Unfortunately, not everyone is seeking facts. Rather, they may be trying to prop up a false narrative in order to make way for a new order to take over the old, existing, patriarchal, Christian order. They may be seeking favours by the powers that be. That is often so in climate research, medical research, history research and research in other fields. False ideas are being propped up by dodgy research. Truth can only be found through true and honest and persevering investigation in any particular area of research. Incentives to fudge the truth are rejected by researchers with integrity.
